March 17th - April 12th, 2015 - A Road to the Memorial
16.03.2015 — tklick
Tuesday, 2015, March 17 (All day)
The exhibition presents a study for changing the Bubny Railway Station into a center for contemporary history. The Memorial of Silence is a project that will transform the Bubny Railway Station into a center for discussion of "the Shoah in us" as a contemporary stigma. During the Second World War, the Railway station Bubny, saw transports of tens of thousands of Jewish residents from Prague ghettos sent to concentration camps and extermination camps. After the liberation, Prague Germans were also sent away through Bubny Station. After witnessing these tragic events, this stigmatized place will be transformed into an exhibition memorial commemorating not only the complex history of the twentieth century and creating a space for debate and critical reflection of the recent past. The project is carried out by a non-profit organization Memorial Shoah Prague o.p.s. (Památník šoa Praha o.p.s.). Its main activities at present include the development of the architectural plans and the creating of the script for a memorial's future permanent exhibition. In addition it organizes exhibitions and events for the general public.
