The town of Dobrovice, near Mladá Boleslava, contains a unique museum of a sugar refinery, distillery and beet processing plant, constructed upon the initiative of the TTD Company and the town of Dobrovice, with EU financial assistance.

The exposition presents the history of Czech sugar production from its very beginnings. Shown are various loaves and cubes, even giant blocks up to 1 meter. Visitors will learn what comprises molasses or syrup, acquaint themselves with significant personalities of this industry and see a sugar-refining laboratory, in which there are crystals of sucrose up to 5 kilos, the largest in the Czech Republic.

Another part of the museum shows a traditional Czech distillery, whose beginnings reach back to the 14th century. Visitors will learn how the technology evolved, from fruit distilleries through industrial alcohol production. The exposition shows a model of a distillery and other rare items from the collections of the National Technical Museum in Prague.
