The collection contains models of technological equipment documenting the chemical industry of especially the early 20th century. Many of the exhibited objects are from the sugar industry. An exceptional collection object is the sugar refinery model that was the first collection piece of the newly established technical museum. It was manufactured by a machine works association for the sugar industry pavilion at the Special Anniversary Exhibition of the Commerce Chamber of Commerce in Prague

Most of the collection of applied chemistry stored in the Invalidovna building in Karlín was severely damaged or destroyed and only part of the chemistry and biotechnology collection remains – some 500 objects.
