The Prehistory of CinematographyThis collection documents the development of the first attempts to capture movement and depict action to the Čadík Brothers’ cinematograph. It features original magic lanterns that enabled the illusion of motion to be created using multiple projections. There are a large number of hand-painted projection pictures. The collection also contains dozens of stroboscope disks, magic drums and similar gadgets – optical toys that made use of the persistence of vision to show simple actions.
