MotorcyclesThe collection only contains machines linked to the Czech history of motorcycling. These primarily consist of motorcycles by Czech producers, though the collection also features numerous foreign models that were previously operated in the territory of what is now the Czech Republic. The most extensive part of the museum collection consists of machines produced prior to World War II. There have been roughly one hundred motorcycle manufacturers operating on the territory of what is now the Czech Republic. The oldest period in the collection is mainly represented by motorcycles from the Mladá Boleslav factory Laurin & Klement that were among the best European motorcycles at the turn of the 20th century and were very successful in the sport of motorcycle racing. However, the brands with the greatest historical importance with regard to production range were JAWA and ČZ, which are closely linked to the history of Czech motorcycle production from the 1930s on. Visitors will find a major part of the National Technical Museum’s motorcycle collection at the Kámen Castle in south Bohemia, which features a permanent exhibit devoted to the history of Czech motorcycle production.
