Events for the public

Chomutov In addition to participation of the NTM’s collection vehicles in historical excursions, the NTM’s Railway Museum also opens twice a year the railway depository in the former Chomutov locomotive depot. Visitors can on this occasion view the vehicles that are usually not on display for them; many of them will certainly be part of future exhibits at the Railway Museum at Masaryk Station.

 

Collection objects that can be operated

At present, there are a total of 56 rail vehicles of the Railway Museum’s collection on loan, 26 of which can be operated – these are regularly included in various historical sets. Some of the vehicles are undergoing full repairs so that they can once again be operated (411.019 “Conrad Vorlauf” from 1873, industrial locomotive EP 1000 no. 32 from 1956) In addition to this, several dozen smaller collection objects are on loan and are exhibited at, for instance, the Railway Museum ČD Lužná near Rakovník, the Museum Exhibit of Communication and Safety Equipment of the Technical Centre of Infrastructure in Hradec Králové, the Railway Museum in the Jaroměř locomotive shed and other places.
