Older newsThe exhibition "The Magic of Bakelite" was made in cooperation of NTM with Slovakia technical museum. The exhibition shows a large number of ways how could bakelite be used. This previously one of the most used plastic material has its place in the area of electricity, industry, photography, technique and it was one of the everyday used object. This exhibition is our first joint action within the project made as a celebration of 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Czechoslovakia Republic - Made in Czechoslovakia - the industry that ruled the world Exhibition "Legendary Favorit," tells the story of bicycle brand Favorit. This bicycle brand was produced in Rokycany factory between the 50s and the 90s. These bicycles were suitable for common users as well as for professionals sportspersons. There are 60 bicycles displayed in our exhibition. The popular, the unreachable, the common and also several special racing types. Visitors may also see the bicycle of Jiří Daler - Tokio 1964 gold medal winner. Visitors also have the opportunity to see the exciting story of Róbert Hutyr. This exhibition is part of the project prepared for celebration 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Czechoslovakia Republic - Made in Czechoslovakia - the industry that ruled the world In the Transportation Hall of the National Technical Museum, the visitors may see until the end of May one of our greatest treasures displayed. The ship Niké was built by Richard Konkolski in the half of 70s and the same man travel with this ship around the world. When he did it his ship was the second smallest ship, that ever traveled around the world and her owner was the first Czech man who made this voyage all alone on his own. This exhibition offers to its visitors the opportunity to get information about the history of prosthetics and also about new trends in this area of medicine. The point of this exhibition is to show that despite the fact that human body is fragile, technique serves the medicine with bringing new hope how to help people staying alive and make their life easier even when they are hurt. This exhibition was made in cooperation of NTM with Charles University and with National Medical Library. Made in Czechoslovakia – the Industry that Ruled the World. With this exhibition, we would like to introduce to our visitors technical and industrial development of Czechoslovakia state during its period of existence from 1918 to 1992. Within this exhibition, we display a representative sample of collection exhibits, which tell our visitors about important Czechoslovakia companies as well as about important individuals of Czechoslovakia technique and industry. This exhibition is part of celebration given in occasion of 100th anniversary of foundation of Czechoslovakia. It depicts the century-long history of a significant industrial enterprise and the industrial age, as well as the social application of classic black-and-white photography in the same period. Interactive exhibition „Illusorium“ presents more than 20 well-known as well as less known optical illusions and allows us to learn about some general principles of visual perception. The Authors from Institute of Psychology, Czech Academy of Science believe that this exhibition provides either entertainment and learning and is ready to wake up your curiosity and eagerness to find out as much as possible about human mind. The exhibition in the transport hall of the museum commemorates the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the movie Closely Watched Trains. It is an hommage to this Oscar-awarded Czechoslovak movie. 2017 The exhibition in the transport hall of the museum commemorates the 170th anniversary of the arrival of the first train in Prague and it presents a historical survey of rail transport in Prague.
