National Technical Museum is the first year June for the first time joined the event Night of churches, and access to the Royal Chapel in the grounds of the former Cistercian monastery in Plasy. Another opportunity for an evening visit to the Royal Chapel of the 21st July 2012, when on the eve of the feast of St. Mary Magdalene is the first time in decades, celebrated Mass pilgrimage.
 

The Mendel 190 exhibit will introduce visitors to the life and works of G. J. Mendel, the founder of genetics. Gregor Mendel himself will guide you past the milestones in his life and through his scientific research, and will even unveil the future for you. You will encounter all areas of his scientific and social functioning in Moravia, in the town of Brno, and in its ancient center, in the Old Brno abbey.

At Thursday, July 19, 2012, the National Technical Museum for operational reasons only open until 4:00 pm.

 Visitors may again see the exhibit item with catalog number "1" – the one-tenth scale model of a sugar refinery, and the 1:45 scale model of a rail yard, which will certainly delight both young and old train enthusiasts. A completely new exhibit is the Merkur "children's corner". Who does not have memories from childhood of this legendary construction set? And the National Technical Museum offers many other new exhibits for your enjoyment.

Like every first Thursday of the month, also this Thursday we are open until 8:00 pm.

Since the beginning of summer, you can see in the exhibition two times a week live printing demonstrations on historical letterpress printing machines as well as the preparation and printing screen printing, lithography and copperplates or samples of work bookbinder and compositor. Workshops take place every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In June we will open the extensive railroad depository in Chomutov for public access! Two roundhouses of the former locomotive depot of the Czech railway system contain over one hundred pieces of rolling stock and other interesting items of railroad technology.

Although the museum depositories are not accessible to the public, this exhibition will make it possible to peek in. For a short time, our sleeping beauties will be the object of interest and admiration from museum visitors.

This concert in the transportation hall of the National Technical Museum commemorates the 100th birthday of modern music pioneer and esthetic, John Cage (1912 – 1992). It will be held May 14th, 2012 at 8pm, and Peter Kofroň will be conducting the AGON ORCHESTRA. It is part of the concert series Prague Spring – 67th International Music Festival.
