Older newsFor the duration of the XXII Winter Olympic games in Sochi, the National Technical Museum will have displayed in its vestibule the Olympic torch, ignited at the North Pole, an Olympic commemorative stamp issued in the Czech Republic and supplementary equipment of the Czech Olympic team. The traditional Czech Grand Design exhibition is open in the National Technical Museum. We present design work nominated in 2013 in the following categories: Designer of the Year, Fashion Designer of the Year, Jewelry Designer of the Year, Graphic Designer of the Year and Photographer of the Year. During the exhibition's opening ceremony, the Czech Academy of Design announced the finalists, from which the winners will be selected and awarded their prizes during the gala ceremony in The Estates Theatre on March 9th. As is customary, visitors may vote for their favorites, in the Public Acclaim category. Exhibition of winning books from 2012 and a selection of award-winning books from 2009-2011 The National Technical Museum presents in its permanent Printing exhibition, the new exhibit "The most beautiful Czech books of 2012". The exhibit contains award-winning books from the 48th year of the competition, selected from 230 titles, submitted by 125 publishers, and 40 titles from 6 art schools. The primary criteria of the competition was harmony among all artistic elements of the book, with respect to adhering to the book's theme. The competition was divided into six categories: children's literature, textbooks, art books, picture books, catalogs and textbooks, and professional and scientific literature. The exhibit is a cooperative venture between the National Technical Museum and the Museum of Czech Literature. The antique motorcycle club OGAR and the National Technical Museum have teamed up to assemble an exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Ogar motorcycle brand. In the Transportation Hall, there are thirty Ogar brand motorcycles, documenting the noteworthy history of this Prague manufacturer. Guided tours of the Coal and Ore Mine exhibition will be again available from 7th September 2021.
